Similar practice is now in progress in the form of Pahalgam incident to score in the coming general elections. The Pahalgam incident took place in the presence of seven lakh military personnel and on a most attractive tourist spot which is 142km away from the border of Azad Jammu Kashmir. Allegedly, the militants asked the tourists about their religion and asked them to recite the verses of Holly Quran and killed the person who refused to recite it. I have used the word ‘Allegedly’ on purpose because I can feel the smell of the Gujarat massacre and Pulwama attack in it. Modi Sarkar has again used the campaign of hostility for the upcoming elections. Interestingly, none of the terrorists has been captured or neutralized by the Indian army. Yet, not surprisingly the responsibility for this incident was immediately placed upon Pakistan and a so-called operation to kill the Pakistan-based terrorist was launched violating the sovereign boundary of Pakistan.

The attack was named ‘Sindoor’ which is a symbol of happiness for Hindus. The controversial operation was launched on 7 May after midnight on 9 different targets according to India and Pakistan. The attacked places were civilian home of innocent Pakistani families and public mosques.  Along with the 26 civilian causalities and 46 injuries was a dangerous terrorist, a little 7-year-old kid Irtaza Abbass Turi, son of serving Lieutenant Colonel, Zaheer Abbass. By all means killing of civilian population and children is a wicked and unjustifiable war crime. Operation Sindoor is a violation of International law, as according to Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter “all members should refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state”.

All the provided details and the history of Modi’s election-winning extremist strategies point towards a vicious cycle of incidents with intelligence failures just before the elections and of course ending up in blame games against Pakistan. The intensity of these incidents is increasing with every passing election to beat the existing immunity of RSS inspired population. Pakistan has all the right to retaliate. In an interview with Crux, John Mearsheimer known for his significant work on the theory of Offensive realism emphasizes that he would be surprised if Pakistan would not retaliate. The aggressive actions of the Fascist Modi regime should face national as well as international opposition. These are cowardly and baseless accusations that should be dealt with in neutral investigations. Rather than falling for Indian Jingoism.

This aggression by the Modi government is a calculated move to win elections similar to what he had done in 2002 and 2019. Independent international investigations are needed and the root-cause that is Kashmir issue should be solved to bring peace and stability to the region.
